About the role

  • Senior Tech Lead Manager on Back Market's Subscription team. Leading the development of device protection and repair services while managing a small technical team.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a collaborative team (5 people) in delivering great software that our customers will love!
  • Collaborating within the product engineering department to align the team with company objectives and initiatives across engineering and the wider business
  • Building strong roadmaps with the right balance of long-term strategic initiatives and more short-term tactical bets that embody the company’s strategy and the team’s growth-hacking mindset
  • Demonstrating a broad understanding of our global architecture and how your domains fits within it
  • Consistently delivering code that sets the standard for quality and maintainability
  • Ensuring the development of people through ongoing coaching and mentoring
  • Creating a team environment where team members feel like they belong and are supported to do their best work
  • Establishing open communication and a culture of feedback between team members
  • Working in an agile "build it and run it" environment where engineering teams build, launch, monitor and support the sections they own
  • Supporting your team in increasing delivery proficiency by creating a learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience and passion for growing, developing, and guiding people
  • Managing a team while continuing to contribute technically
  • Openness to receiving and giving feedback in a safe workplace
  • Experience working in agile development teams with knowledge of our following tech stack: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, RestFul API, Python, Django, VueJs, Nuxt, Datadog etc
  • Interest in working in an environment where leaders support their teams to do great work, by removing impediments, finding improvements, and facilitating effective decision-making
  • Enthusiasm about reaching new levels of effectiveness (and quality!)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Excitement to learn about how our industry works and the impact we bring to our customers and the world
  • Ability to problem-solve and navigate ambiguous situations with data and putting the user at the center.
  • A growth hacking mindset, willingness to run experiments to test ideas and leverage learnings to build more value.
