About the role

  • Assistant Calibration Engineer at Babcock responsible for ensuring measurement accuracy and supporting calibration methods. Work involves working with diverse instrumentation and compliance with ISO standards.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering the accuracy, precision and reliability that underpin Babcock’s work across defence, engineering and fleet support.
  • Work with a broad mix of instruments, apply high‑accuracy measurement practices and support the ongoing development of calibration methods and documentation.
  • Calibration of a broad range of General-Purpose Test and Measurement Equipment.
  • Prepare accurate calibration certificates and reports for completed work.
  • Support and demonstrate facility compliance with BS EN ISO 17025 and BS EN 10012 standards.

Requirements

  • Strong background in high‑accuracy measurement within a quality‑driven environment.
  • Knowledge of BS EN ISO 17025 requirements and UKAS accreditation processes.
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining calibration procedures, documentation and uncertainty budgets.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, customer‑focused approach, and high proficiency with IT systems and digital workflows.
  • NVQ3 or equivalent in an engineering discipline; an apprenticeship is preferred.
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
