About the role

  • Systems Engineer specializing in defence systems at Babcock. Designing and integrating complex systems to ensure operational success with multidisciplinary teams in Fife.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of requirements artefacts, such as specifications and traceability matrices.
  • Assist in defining Verification and Validation (V&V) strategies, developing test evidence, and supporting acceptance activities.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews, providing Systems Engineering input across design, development, and integration stages.
  • Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure system coherence and compliance.

Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in a STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Familiarity with core Systems Engineering concepts such as requirements elicitation, requirement decomposition, functional analysis, and verification.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Organised and able to prioritise tasks in a project environment.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and applying Systems Engineering best practices.
  • Security Clearance - The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
