About the role
- Senior Director leading GIS strategy for Audubon, a nonprofit dedicated to bird conservation. Overseeing GIS product development and fostering innovative practices across teams and partners.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead Audubon’s enterprise GIS strategy
- Develop and maintain GIS products and systems roadmaps
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of high-value GIS products
- Supervise GIS staff and fellows
- Administer and evolve Audubon’s hybrid ArcGIS deployment
- Manage relationships with vendors including contract negotiation
- Partner with Conservation and Science teams to deliver spatial analysis
- Ensure enterprise GIS practices adhere to security and privacy standards
- Prepare and deliver reports and presentations
Requirements
- Master’s or advanced degree in Geography Information Systems, Information Technology, Geography, or similar discipline
- 10+ years of progressive professional experience in GIS field
- Demonstrated ability in GIS strategy, infrastructure, analysis, product management
- At least 3 years of team leadership
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro
- Strong knowledge of enterprise GIS best practices
- Demonstrated experience with cloud deployments (AWS, S3 storage, EC2, RDS) and system integration
- Proficiency in geospatial automation with Python and SQL
- Demonstrated experience using tools such as Jira for project management
- Existing relationships with key technology partners such as Esri
- Spanish-language proficiency and cultural understanding preferred.
