About the role

  • Architectural Engineering Assistant supporting nuclear design and engineering teams. Collaborating on site layout, building systems, and various engineering evaluations in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of nuclear plant early site layout concept designs
  • Support civil/structural engineers in design and analysis of building systems
  • Apply building code requirements and applicable standards
  • Perform basic calculations, design self-checks, and engineering evaluations under supervision
  • Coordinate with architects and other engineers to ensure work is completed to time and within budget
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and coordination sessions
  • Assist with responding to internal and external customer requests for information and proposals
  • Support direction of Designers preparing and revising 3D models and drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, SmartPlant 3D, or similar BIM tools
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation in accordance with company nuclear quality management system procedures
  • Support all activities for the Design Integration team, including site visits as required
  • Work under the guidance of licensed engineers to develop competencies required for P.Eng. licensure
  • Actively pursue technical learning, code knowledge, and industry best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Eligibility for eventual licensing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or professional licence application already in progress
  • 2–4 years of relevant junior level mentored engineering experience in building or architectural engineering
  • Proficiency or working knowledge of modern digital design tools and techniques
  • Basic understanding of BIM workflows and construction documents
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
  • Willingness to learn and take feedback
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Good organizational and time‑management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
