Architectural Engineering Assistant supporting nuclear design and engineering teams. Collaborating on site layout, building systems, and various engineering evaluations in a hybrid environment.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of nuclear plant early site layout concept designs
Support civil/structural engineers in design and analysis of building systems
Apply building code requirements and applicable standards
Perform basic calculations, design self-checks, and engineering evaluations under supervision
Coordinate with architects and other engineers to ensure work is completed to time and within budget
Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and coordination sessions
Assist with responding to internal and external customer requests for information and proposals
Support direction of Designers preparing and revising 3D models and drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, SmartPlant 3D, or similar BIM tools
Maintain organized project files and documentation in accordance with company nuclear quality management system procedures
Support all activities for the Design Integration team, including site visits as required
Work under the guidance of licensed engineers to develop competencies required for P.Eng. licensure
Actively pursue technical learning, code knowledge, and industry best practices
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
Eligibility for eventual licensing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or professional licence application already in progress
2–4 years of relevant junior level mentored engineering experience in building or architectural engineering
Proficiency or working knowledge of modern digital design tools and techniques
Basic understanding of BIM workflows and construction documents
Attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
Willingness to learn and take feedback
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
Good organizational and time‑management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
