About the role

  • Bilingual Senior Consultant focusing on Human Rights at Anthesis in São Paulo. Leading business development and human rights projects across Latin America.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development and human rights work across Latin America.
  • Conduct human rights impact and risk assessments, human rights investigations, human rights due diligence processes and other research related to the topic.
  • Conduct semi-structured interviews with human rights experts and affected rights-holders, as well as in-depth open-source research.
  • Draft concise, consistent executive reports; present findings to clients and support the development of implementation plans.
  • Participate in field visits with the team and coordinate remote visits globally.
  • Engage with companies, public policymakers, NGOs, journalists and other civil society actors on business and human rights issues.
  • Prepare proposals and present business and human rights projects to prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with the team leader to carry out other functions and responsibilities necessary for project success and the growth of the practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, International Relations, Social Sciences, Political Science, Public Administration or related fields.
  • Postgraduate degree or Master’s in Human Rights, Public Policy, International Relations or related topics will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, preferably partly in consultancy, with a focus on Business and Human Rights, human rights due diligence, corporate investigations or socio-environmental risk assessment.
  • Proven experience conducting human rights impact and risk assessments, Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) processes and complex strategic research.
  • Experience conducting semi-structured interviews with sensitive stakeholders, including experts, civil society representatives and affected rights-holders.
  • Experience preparing executive reports for corporate clients and presenting results to senior audiences.
  • Experience in business development, preparing technical proposals and participating in client pitches.
  • Residence in São Paulo, Brazil.
  • Fluent English (advanced/C1 level or higher) for constant interaction with international clients and teams.
  • Spanish and/or French will be considered valuable assets.
  • Technical knowledge of Business and Human Rights and relevant international frameworks (e.g., UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights).
  • Country risk assessments and analysis of political and regulatory context.
  • Public policy, corporate governance and global trends related to human rights and international markets.
  • Advanced qualitative research and open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysis.
  • Microsoft Office: advanced level.
