About the role
- Hydraulic Design Engineer focusing on hydraulic design process and automated toolchain development. Collaborating on projects related to hydro turbines for sustainable energy solutions.
Responsibilities
- Act as a central resource to support the hydraulic design process through the development of automated toolchains and numerical methods
- Support the personnel related to design of hydraulic passageways of hydro turbines at all stages for both new units, runner replacements and rehabilitation projects
- Definition, programming, maintenance, and modification of hydraulic engineering tools and processes
- Performing CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analyses
- Support for bids, including preliminary design and design reviews
- Analysis of design requirements
- Support the development of hydraulic designs for turbine components of various types
- Collaboration with the hydraulic laboratory team in Linz for model turbine development
- Collaborating with mechanical engineering and contract hydraulic engineers to ensure the continuous execution of development contracts
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Master’s degree is highly desirable
- Ideally, minimum of five (5) years of experience in hydro engineering
- Candidate must hold membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or meet the eligibility criteria to obtain such membership
- Creativity, problem solving skills, and demonstrated consistent attention to detail
- Strong ability to work in a team environment and excellent communication skills (oral & written)
- Self-directed and proven leadership skills
- Familiarity with CFD calculations for hydraulic turbines
- Knowledge of commercial and technical aspects of hydro-electric power plant equipment
- Interest in programming with ideally some experience in bash and Python scripting
- Fluency in French and English – spoken and written
