About the role
- Waste and QA/QC Manager leading waste management and quality assurance for nuclear, hazardous, and industrial waste projects. Providing strategic guidance to ensure compliance and improve operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of on-site waste management, including characterization, packaging, transportation, and disposal of nuclear, hazardous, and industrial waste streams.
- Ensure compliance with site-specific, federal, and international regulations and Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC).
- Develop, implement, and maintain ISO 9001 and NQA-1 compliant Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs.
- Oversee technical documentation, including QA/QC records, inspection reports, and regulatory submittals.
- Utilize statistical sampling and analysis tools to support accurate waste characterization and process improvements.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and readiness assessments to uphold project and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, safety, and procurement teams to ensure integrated project delivery and quality outcomes.
- Mentor and lead multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies to optimize operations and reduce cycle times.
- Support project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning to meet decommissioning or remediation objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
- Minimum 20 years of experience in waste management and QA/QC roles.
- Experience with nuclear or hazardous waste projects.
- Certifications such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma, or equivalent.
